Afghanistan: Food Safety, HACCP and GMP Program Development for the Raisin and Almond Industry

This short term project was funded by USAID and implemented by USDA FAS for a Consortium expert to work with the raisin and almond sectors (two commodities were identified as having the greatest export potential) on basic food safety programs. The deliverables from this assignment include workshops to industry groups, on site assessment of food safety challenges and developing plant-specific food safety systems. In addition, Intensive training in food safety audits was conducted for staff from the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Health and Food (MAAHF) and the Ministry of Commerce for program continuity
